Shopping for cameras

When shopping for a new digital camera I always use a shopping comparison site such as this one for help in finding a good camera that suits my needs as well as finding competitive pricing.

When I was looking for a simple point and shoot recently I found that I could also compare features and brands quite easily and the myriad of options available in the point and shoot category was amazing. By reviewing brands and descriptions as well as using the ratings available I was able to select an Olympus to suit my needs.

Shopping online using shopping comparison sites makes life a whole lot easier, there are usually 3 or 4 merchants available where we can view their best prices as well as shipping and stock information.

Websites for $1000 really possible?

A recent discussion in an online forum here has sparked this post. There are quite heated posts on how its simply not possible to set up an ecommerce online for $1000 and how no serious client could spend so little.

Well I am here to say yes it is possible. What nearly all the posters fail to realise is that there are many ways to skin a cat and Ecommerce is no different.

I have been online for approximately 6 years now. When I first set up my largest online enterprise to date, it was with a free open source ecommerce script, on $10 a month hosting, and with a $140USD template.

It took a learning curve on my behalf, but it was not altogether painful, and I was making sales within a couple of months. This business grew over the years, as it grew, I added to my site’s functionality, however the basic look and feel never changed. What did change was the product offerings, and the pricing. That’s what my customers where really interested in. My sites look may have not been as classy as some of the big players, but I reflected what I did well with price and service, and my turnover eventually exceeded well over $500k a month, with over 15000 customers.

If I had listened to people on that forum, I would have never gotten anywhere with my business. Some people do not have $30k to put their idea online, they have the passion and willingness to learn and do things themselves, and what’s more, their client base may not even care what a site looks like!

Its because of this that I have set up a business dedicated to providing people like myself, functional, professional websites that allow the owner to establish themselves in an online environment without wasting all their money on a website and leaving nothing for marketing or customers……

The business is already generating much interest and its not even complete yet, I look forward to posting here more topics on how to improve your web presence at a fraction of the cost.

We have all heard the old adage, “Content is King”. This phrase still holds true for the best search engine optimization for your site.

Having plenty of relevant information on your site will help no end in assisting the search engines and improving your ranking.

There are however, other ways in which quality content can generate traffic for your site.

One of these ways is to submit articles related to your product or website to e-zines. There are many e-zines that will allow you to submit your article at no cost, and throughout your article you can include information about your product, and/or at the end of your article you can include a link to your website.

Submitting articles in this matter is a great way of marketing your product or your site for little to no cost.

Make sure your article is of a high quality, so that those who come across it enjoy the read and are eager to read more by following the link.

Making your article professional, light hearted and easy to read are a good way of achieving this.

By exchanging links with other webmasters, you can greatly increase the amount of traffic you receive to your site, and it will most likely be traffic that you may not have other wise received.

You generally exchange links with other sites that have a similar field or niche, so that visitors to that site will have a reason for clicking on the link to travel to your site.

Link exchange can also greatly boost your ranking with the search engines.

Having a high search engine ranking is one of the most effective ways to generate traffic to your site, so this is a highly valuable side effect of link exchange.

Keep this low cost option in mind, as it can be a highly effective method of increasing traffic to your website.

Traffic Exchange

Traffic Exchange is similar to Link Exchange in many ways.

With traffic exchange, you work together with other sites and actually exchange entire pages of your sites content.

By doing this, you have the chance to be found by someone who wasn’t even searching for you.

It always works the other way around, in that your site can have pages of content from the affiliate’s site.

In this way, you work together and share the traffic that you each receive.

Traffic Exchange programs generally also have a credit earning system.

If you are first starting your website and need to boost traffic numbers, this can be a great way to do so.

One of the best ways to monetize your site and gain extra profits is to attract a constant flow traffic to your website.

It is unlikely that you will be able to generate a large income from your site if nobody ever visits it.

Many large companies will spend a lot of money on advertising campaigns to drive traffic to their site. You may not have this kind of capital, but it is still possible to generate traffic without spending a fortune on expensive marketing campaigns.

Ways of attracting traffic to your site without spending the big bucks include the following:

· Traffic Exchange

· Links Exchange

· Writing Web Content

· Starting A Site Newsletter

· Participating in on-line forums

Using the above methods, it is possible to generate income via site traffic without spending too much of your hard earned.

We will cover these topics in more depth in the blogs to come.

To implement the first of your short term marketing goals, you need to have an understanding of your customer base.

Gather as much as data as possible in terms of what your customers are purchasing, their purchasing trends, what they buy and when, where they are from, and any other demographical information as you can get your hands on.

Knowing this information will assist you greatly in setting your website to target your customers in a much more accurate manner.

Identify and learn from the trends you see in the analytical data.

It can also be extremely useful to get the information straight from the horse’s mouth. In other words, ask your customers for feedback so you have honest thoughts from your customers to assist you with your future marketing strategy.

There are a number of key points to keep in mind when planning your short term marketing goals for your website.

The first major point is to have an understanding of your customer base. Use analytical tools to find out as much information as possible about the main characteristics of your customers.

Also gain an understanding of the potential for your key business opportunities.

Once you have gained this information, and have put in place ways to continue to develop and receive this information, get into place a cohesive database where you can legibly and easily access and use this information.

Have an understanding of the capacity of your workplace team. Are you completely on your own, or if not, what are the capabilities, strengths and weaknesses of your management and workplace group?

The final short term goal is to work out your workplace strategy for increasing your sales capacity in terms of efficiency.

These short term goals will help you to stay focused and to continually give you achievable targets to improve your marketing plan.

Be a Decision Maker

To be effective in your e-business, you need to be able to make the hard decisions.

You wont always be able to spend a lot of time deliberating about the possible outcomes of your decision. It is very important that you don’t procrastinate or allow decisions and planning to drag on. If you are having trouble making a decision about something, write a list of pros and cons for each option and make your decision based on the list.

Sometimes it is better to make a move and do something than to do nothing for extended periods with time with no answer or decision in sight.

Keep your site and your business progressing, by becoming a fast, determined and strategic decision maker.
